Lanie Jones, age 71, of Dalton, passed away peacefully at Hamilton Medical Center early Wednesday morning, December 17, 2025, with her sisters near her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and JoAnne Liles Jones.

She is survived by sisters, Leslie (John) Hudson and Andrea (Roger) Hughes; nieces and nephews, Whitney (Michael) Cantrell, Kingsley (Stephen) Strickhausen, Seaver Hudson, Weston (Lacy) Hughes, and Hogan Hughes; and, great-nieces and nephews, Cole, Bray, Asa and Noa Cantrell, Marlie, Camdyn, Sloane, and Dakota Strickhausen, Riot Hudson, Coley, Hanes, Harmon, and Vaughn Hughes.

Lanie graduated from Freed Hardeman University and then spent most of her working life as the beloved secretary at Central Church of Christ for over 25 years. She never had children of her own, but she was a devoted aunt to five nieces and nephews, thirteen great nieces and nephews, and she has been a spiritual mom to many over the years. Lanie taught many children's classes at church but was most well known for her "Grow and Glow" classes for young girls. We could say a great deal more about Lanie's life of service, but it would take many pages. To sum it up, Lanie lived her life pointing everyone she met to Jesus. She was a devoted daughter, sister, and friend. Lanie will be greatly missed.

There will be a celebration of life at the Central Church of Christ in Dalton on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 3:00 pm with Steve Griggs officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 pm until the service hour.
