Obituary

Anthony "Tony" George Armstrong, 70, of Ellijay, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on February 10, 2026. He was born on July 2, 1955, to the late Sanford and Annie Estelle Armstrong.

A man of many passions, Tony spent his life working as a skilled mechanic and long-haul truck driver. He found joy in the open road and took pride in his craft, sharing his knowledge and talents with family and friends. Beyond his work, Tony had a lifelong love of classic cars and motorcycles. He spent countless hours in his shop, carefully restoring vehicles to their former glory, a pursuit that brought him both satisfaction and a deep appreciation for automotive history.

Above all else, Tony cherished time with his family. He was a devoted husband to Kim Armstrong and a loving father to his three children, Jesse Bell, William Faehold, and Melissa Armstrong. His greatest joy was found in the moments shared with them, whether at a family gathering or simply enjoying each other's company.

Tony is survived by his wife, Kim; his children, Jesse, William, and Melissa; his daughters-in-law; three grandchildren; his sisters, Sandra Armstrong Roper and Dee Armstrong; his brother-in-law, Lynn Roper; Harry Cunningham and Jack Andrews, both of whom he regarded as a father figure; and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sanford and Estelle, and his brother, Thomas.

A celebration of Tony's life will be held at a later date. Details will be shared with family and friends when arrangements are finalized. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Homeward Bound Pet Rescue or Gilmer Community Food Panty.

Known for his strong work ethic, kind heart, and devotion to those he loved, Tony will be remembered always.
