Floyd Roscoe Thaxton, age 81, of Rockmart passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on May 25, 2026, following a brave fight with cancer.

Floyd was a faithful husband, devoted father, and a good provider who worked hard to care for and support his family throughout his life. He shared 60 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Brenda Joy Thaxton. Together they built a life centered on love, faith, and family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Joy Thaxton; daughter, Darlene Lankford (Bill) of Ringgold; son, Chad Thaxton (Naomi) of Rockmart; three cherished grandchildren, Madison, Elijah, and Mac, who were a constant source of pride and joy in his life; and three siblings, Jellette, Oscar, and Marshelle.

Floyd found happiness in the simple things in life. He loved plants, spending time outdoors, and enjoying God’s creation. After retirement, he enjoyed golfing with his friends especially Ed Williams and Ed Pasley. He will be remembered for his steady presence, strong work ethic, and the love he showed to those closest to him. He served proudly in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Era Veteran.

He leaves behind cherished memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 2:30 p.m.
