Eugenia Joanne (nee, Ball) Nimmons of Dalton, GA, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026, at the age of 92. She was born on December 29, 1933, to Louis and Tellie Bryce Ball in Hohenlinden, MS.

After graduating from Grenada High School and Mississippi College as valedictorian, Joanne moved to Fort Worth, TX, where she met her husband, Reverend Dr. Billy Truett Nimmons. The two married in 1957, and together they shared 62 wonderful years.

Joanne Nimmons was preceded in death by her husband Reverend Dr. Billy Nimmons, her brother Jerry Ball, and half-sister Brenda Bridges Palmer.

Joanne Nimmons (Mama Jo, as her family knew her) often said if she could be frozen in time with her three little ones, she would be happy forever. Mama Jo was a mother figure to many and is survived by her children Rhonda Nimmons McGee (Richard), Truett Nimmons (Lee Ann), and Deborah Nimmons (Frank Martinez). She is also survived by six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, various nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Visitation will be held in the Atrium of First Baptist Church, Dalton, GA, on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at 1:00 pm. The service will begin at 2:00 pm in the Chapel followed by a private inurnment for the family.
