Sue Ann Tuell, age 75, formerly of Abingdon, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2026, at her daughter’s home in Chatsworth, Georgia, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Born on August 13, 1951, in Washington County, Virginia, Sue was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church in Dalton, Georgia. Her faith was central to her life, and she loved her Lord and Savior deeply. Through her generous spirit, warm hugs, and beautiful smile, Sue shared God’s love with everyone she met.

Sue’s family will always remember her strength, genuine kindness, and heartfelt care for others. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose love and memory will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew her.

Sue is survived by her children, John (Crystal) Spurgeon, James (Barbara) Spurgeon, and Stacey (Tim) Spurgeon-Johnson.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Luke (Jess) Spurgeon-Clements, Ian (Kayla) Lowery, Megan (Ryan) Lowery-Keylon, Kristin (Bryson) Cochran, Katrina McAtee (Iassic), Toby Spurgeon, Raylan Spurgeon, and Jason Spurgeon; her great-grandchildren, Dale, Ayden Keylon, Riley, Peyton Lowrey, Charlie Spurgeon-Clements, Presley Spurgeon-Clements, and Audrey Cochran; her sisters, Becky Dunn and Roberta Vannoy; and her special great-niece and great-nephew, Brayden and Alyssa Vannoy.

Brayden and Alyssa brought great joy to Sue’s life, and she brought that same joy to theirs. The bond they shared was truly special and reflected the deep love and closeness Sue cherished within her family. She will be deeply missed by them. Many nieces and nephews also survive Sue Ann.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend John F. and Della Heath Vannoy; her grandson, Preston McAtee; her great-grandson, Tyler Lowery; and her siblings, Frank Vannoy, Jack Vannoy, George Vannoy, Billy Vannoy, Jim Vannoy, John Vannoy, Etta May Havens, Louise Hamm, and Mary Dunn.

The family extends a heartfelt thank-you to Hearth Hospice for the excellent and compassionate care provided to Sue and her family. Special appreciation goes to Nurse Sue, Nurse Silvia, and Nurse Practitioner Johanna Abbasi for their kindness, comfort, and support during Sue’s final days.

Sue will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Her faith, generosity, beautiful smile, warm hugs, strength, and genuine care for others will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-niece and great-nephew, and the many lives she touched. Her lasting legacy will be found in the love she gave so freely and in the family bonds she helped strengthen throughout her life.
