Timothy (Tim) Scott Bates, age 60, of Chattanooga, TN, passed away on October 22, 2025.

Born on October 9, 1965, to a military family, Tim spent most of his adult life in Dalton, GA. Tim obtained his undergraduate degree from North Georgia Military College in 1988, and his master's degree from Wilmington College in 1996. He had a long career in human resources.

Tim was also an accomplished writer, having written several books.

Tim was a man of many interests. He was an avid history and military enthusiast and spent his time crafting historically accurate models of WWII, Korea, and Vietnam-era military equipment. Several of his models won awards at trade shows around the country. He obtained his pilot's license at an early age and enjoyed aviation as a hobby. In addition to these interests, Tim enjoyed traveling, art, reading, and being outdoors.

Tim is survived by his parents, Edward and Beverly Bates, of Cohutta, GA; his sister, Kimberly Bates Westmoreland and her husband, Robert, also of Cohutta; and his nephew, Bates Westmoreland, and his wife, Patty, of Alpharetta, GA.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.
