Vickie Cornwell went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at Advent Gordon Hospital in Calhoun after a period of declining health.

Vickie was born in Rocksboro, North Carolina, to the late John Charles Clayton and the late Nancy Joyce Hendrix Clayton. She spent most of her life in Georgia making her home for the last ten years in Gordon County.

In addition to being preceded in death by her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sons, Derek Miller and Zachary Miller; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Troy and Mary Cornwell; and her sister-in-law, Elaine Cornwell.

Vickie is survived by her loving husband, Alan Cornwell, to whom she was married for twenty years. She is also survived by her daughter, Ashley Miller (Jay Wyche); stepdaughter, April Lester (Stan); stepson, Marcus Cornwell (Teagan); grandchildren, Zavianna Wyche, Zana Wyche, Ashley Suddeth (Evan), Maddie Souther (Brady), Evan Lester (Ashlyn), Emma Lester, Lincoln Cornwell, Kinley Cornwell, Evelyn Willis, and Rhett Willis; great-grandchildren, Noa Claire Suddeth, Simon Suddeth, Ezra Souther, and Theodore Souther; sister, Yvonne Brewster (Earl); brothers, Doug Cothran and Steve Clayton; and brothers-in-law, Kelly Cornwell and Marty Cornwell (Anne). Many nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends in a time of visitation at Heritage Baptist Church (345 Curtis Parkway, Calhoun, GA 30701) on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Church. Reverend Shane Parrott will lead the service and Nicole Mattox will be in charge of the music.
